I'm a Winner!

It seems I've been on a bit of a winning streak -- blog contest wise.

I recently won a Land's End cashmere sweater from my friend Shannan at Mommy Bits Reviews. It is wonderful and beautiful and so comfortable! Thank you Shannan!

I also recently won a recipe contest over at MomCooks. MomCooks and emealsforyou.com were holding a contest for recipes and I submitted several and one of mine one! My Mexican Tilapia. It's over on the emealsforyou Blog and now one of the recipes on the website.

It really is a super easy recipe and very yummy.

And I won a Little JetSet backpack by Little Piggy from MomTrends. We gave this to Sam for Christmas and he LOVES it!

So, while my car is in getting a new transmission -- at least I'm still a winner!

I also won the "baby poll" my new bloggy friend Julie was doing over at Planes, Trains and Automobiles. I correctly guessed the day her sister would have her baby... August 14th. No physical prize, thus no pictures, but I do get bragging rights!

Earth-Mother's Day Giveaway

Amy over at Crunchy Domestic Goddess is having an awesome Earth-Mother's Day give away.

And I would love to win!

My two favorite things -- although she's got some GREAT stuff....

BYO Bags - reusable produce bags. They are made from nylon mesh, and are reusable, lightweight, breathable, washable and durable.

And the reusable Wrap-n-Mats. The Wrap-n-Mats double as a sandwich wrapper and a place mat.

In fact, I think I'll be purchasing both if I don't win!

You have until May 11th to enter.

Puzzles & Contests

To be eligible, we just have to post the following graphic and link to Wuzzles & Puzzles...

Now, I think you all know that Josh is smart and loves puzzles. I have a confession here. I love puzzles too.
I had a very quick look at the site and it looks pretty cool. Lots of puzzles for all ages.
Their site says, "place for anyone age 10 and up to test their brain and skills with word and math puzzles, mazes, brain teasers and more. We are happy to provide you hours and hours of printable, thinkable fun. We have more than 1100 free printable puzzles for you to test your brains on."
I know it says 10 and up, but I think Josh would like to do some of these puzzles too.

Housekeeping

Several things are piling up so I'm going to get rid of them here.

First (and most importantly) Elizabeth at Mom Reviews is giving away a "My Friends Tigger and Pooh -- Super Sleuth Christmas Movie" DVD.

And, I know I've mentioned before that Sam LOVES Winnie the Pooh I would love to win this for him, just in time for the holidays! He's got a little Classic Winnie the Pooh stuffed doll he carries everywhere. He says, "It's my best."

Anyway, getting back to Elizabeth -- she's having a give away. If you are interested, go visit her and leave a comment (for one entry), either fave her, blogroll her or subscribe (for 2 entries) and/or post about the contest (for three entries). But the contest ends Friday, so be sure to be quick!

Okay, next order of business. I keep getting tagged for meme's. I'm a bit behind so I'm doing two at once here.

First, Shannan at Mommy Bits tagged me for a middle name meme. I was tagged for this on Maya's Mom last month already. Here's the post if you're interested.

I don't think I'll do it again, but I will pass on that Shannan has THE BEST Cookie recipe EVER!!!! Sam and I are making Shannan's Cake Mix cookies today and HOLY COW! They are delicious! And super easy!

Look!

We made some with holiday M&M's this time. I have some German Chocolate Cake mix that I plan on trying out with Heath Bar Toffee Crunch and I have a Carrot Cake mix that I'm going to try with raisins and white chocolate. Just for something different

Finally, I was tagged for another meme by my friend Cheryl at Maya's Mom. This time it's an either/or meme. Here goes.

Coke or Pepsi? Diet Caffeine Free Coke -- but really it's water or red wine.

Sweet or Salty? Salty

Night Owl or Morning Person? Morning -- I have to be, my kids get up too early. But I am anyway!

Bath or Shower? AM or PM? I prefer Showers in the morning, but I'll take it when I can get it! Don't like bath's at all!

Apples or Oranges? Apples

Algebra or Geometry? Neither. English

Left-handed or Right-handed? Righty

Cook or Bake? Cook, but I like to bake too -- see above.

Fruits or Veggies? Both

Mayo or Miracle Whip? MAYO. No contest. The other stuff should be outlawed.

Butter or Margarine? Butter, Unsalted.

Handheld or electric toothbrush? Handheld

Crest or Colgate? Crest for sensitive teeth

Deodorant: Roll-on or Solid? Solid

Do you call them Sneakers or Tennis Shoes? Depends on the mood. Boys are usually sneakers, girls tennis shoes.

Do you call it a Pocketbook or Purse? Purse

Do you sleep to the Left or Right of hubby (or significant other)? Depends. What ever side is closest to the bathroom. In our house now, I'm to the left of Rich.

Toilet Paper: Over or Under? Over, but as long as it gets changed I'm happy!

In what order: Sock, Sock, Shoe, Shoe OR Sock, Shoe, Sock, Shoe? What ever I feel like at the time.

There. I think that's it for now. I'm not tagging anyone, but feel free to do either the middle name or the either/or meme if you wish!

Now, I'm off to eat more cookies!

Cool Clothes for Kids

Amy, over at Crunchy Domestic Goddess is having a really cool give-away. She's giving away a Bitty Braille T-shirt.

These t-shirts are very cool! The Bitty Braille T-s are kid-friendly words set in Braille with the translation hand embroidered underneath. It's a great idea founded by Julie Dutt -- busy homeschooling mom -- with the idea that it introduces kids to Braille at an early age.

I love this idea! I have a niece who is medically fragile. Before we knew the extent of her "issues" we found out she was blind. Turns our she's not really, but that's part of her issues. Anyway, I was living in Australia when my family found out. I felt so alone and away from the family and didn't know what I didn't know. I was lucky enough to be living a few blocks away from a Blind School. I contacted them and they sent me heaps of information so I could come to terms with my niece's issues so far away from home.

So, I love this idea of exposing children to other forms of communication -- not just what they see and hear every day! And, not only are the clothes cute and cool, Bitty Braille donates 10% of every sale to The American Foundation for the Blind. So your kids can be cool and PC at the same time!

Amy is having a contest to give away one of these very cute t-shirts that I think some kids in my family that would love to have one!

Classical Music and Mickey Mouse at T45

Elizabeth over at Table for Five is having a give-away week.

She's got two DVD's that I would love to have for the kids up for grabs.

One is Little Einstein's Firebirds' Rescue. My oldest son, Josh LOVES the Little Einstein's. So much so infact, my "kids music" is my copy of "Classical Music for People that Hate Classical Music" CD. Not bad, eh? In fact, they love the "Fantasia" movies. Both the original and Fantasia 2000.

The other DVD she has going is Micky Mouse Club House, "Mickey's Treat." Both the boys like Mickey Mouse Club House. I'd love to have that DVD as well.

So head on over to Table for Five to enter her contest. You just have to leave her a comment, add her to your faves or blog roll and write a journal entry. Each one, gives you one chance to win.

I hope it's me!

It's Not Easy Being Green... But We're Giving it a Go....

When we lived in England, instead of using shopping bags, we had these "green crates." I never knew what to do with all those bags after I was done. I hated throwing them away, but there were always so many of them!

About a two weeks ago, I noticed Publix, my local grocery store, started selling re-usable Green Bags. I immediately snapped up four and I'm glad I did. I don't have to worry about throwing away all the plastic bags or the whole "petroleum-dependency" issue with them AND they make carrying in the groceries a snap -- one, maybe two trips (depending on how heavy the bags are) is about all I need to carry the groceries in. I love them!

And now, Amy over at Crunchy Domestic Goddess is having a re-usable bag give away. Reusablebags.com has offered her two of their best selling reusable bags for a give away.

Aren't they cute? I really like them and would love to win them!
All you have to do to enter the contest is write a blog entry, sign her Mr. Linky and leave a comment on her blog by Tuesday September 26th.
So, head on over to the Crunchy Domestic Goddess for a read and enter her contest (or don't because I want to win...)

I liked this one:

I don't know why, I just thought it was cute!
