Random Kid Stuff

Last week the boys had VBS so I had my mornings full of a whole lot of nothing! It was wonderful!

This week the kids have been home. And a bit bored! I’ve been trying to get the house cleaned up (little by little). Next week we have Cub Scout Day Camp, then the week after that we go to visit my parents. The house has to be cleaned before we leave, and this week is the best time to do it. Poor kids have had to entertain themselves without making a mess!

Josh has decided he wants some money to buy things I won’t buy for him, so he put up a chore list the other day.

You will notice right under “make bed” is “Be nice 2 bro.”  Which technically, doesn’t qualify as a chore, but apparently Josh thinks of it as one.

It's All in the Marketing?

On Sunday we went to Borders to grab a "treat" at the coffee shop and do some last minute Christmas Shopping. We love going there on cold winter mornings because we can look around, the boys can get excited about what books they want and we can go get a coffee and a treat at the cafe!

As we were getting ready I said to Sam that he had to hurry up because we were going to Borders.

He said, "I don't want to go! You know WHY it's called BORDERS? Because it's BORING!"

Then later on in the car he said, "You know they shouldn't call it Borders because people will think it's boring. They should call it 'FUNNERS' because it's FUN!"

Perhaps we should let Borders customer service know.

The Things They Say

I haven't done any kidisms in a while.

And the boys have not stopped talking (and talking and talking and talking). They do come up with some good ones from time to time. It's hard to catch them all or remember them, so I do like to blog them here, just so I don't forget about them.

Here are some of the "latest" kidisms in our house.

Sam was not eating his lunch. He had 1/2 a tuna sandwich on his plate and it was cut into 2 pieces. He'd only eaten one bite out of each triangle.

Me: Sam, eat your lunch. (I should just record this because I have to say it EVERY meal time... "Eat your breakfast," "Eat your lunch," "Eat your dinner.")

Sam: It's all gone... look, only crust.

Me: No Sam, there's still lots of food there... here, let me help you. (I pick up one sandwich and break it in half so he can eat it easier without, heaven forbid, eating any crust).

Sam -- starts to cry: MOM! Now I have more!!! Don't do that!!!

Me: What?

Sam: Look, (counts his sandwich pieces)... 1, 2, 3! Now I have THREE not TWO!!!!

Josh recently got a Golden Retriever Webkinz and he really loves it. We were at the park one day and a lady, walking a "real live Golden Retriever" stopped and the boys were petting him.

Josh (after telling the lady about his Webkinz) : This is the first Real Live Golden Retriever I've ever seen!

Lady: Really? Are you sure?

Josh: Well, I am seven so I've had a lot of time to forget stuff.

Then this morning....

Sam: Mom, say something funny.

Me: Why?

Sam: Because I want to tell you something from Franklin. Just say something.

Me: Okay. Tomorrow is Halloween.

Sam: You can say that again!

They keep me laughing....

since I posted a Samism.

Yesterday we went to story time and his friend Walker came in with his mom.

Me: Look Sam, there's Walker...

Sam: LUKE SKYWALKER is here!

Did I mention he's obsessed with StarWars?

And Josh had a good Joshism yesterday too.

We went to Kennesaw Mountain to walk around after dinner. I'll probably post more about that trip tomorrow. Anyway, we drove up to the parking lot at (almost) the top of the mountain. The views are amazing there! We were on our way to walk up some steps that would bring us up a bit higher for a different view.

Josh: Can we go up there?

Me: Yep, come on, let's go...

Josh: WOW! I've never been this high before!

The college boys that were walking by could barely contain their laughter.

And Josh has been there before... and even up to the very top of the mountain.
