Random Kid Stuff

Last week the boys had VBS so I had my mornings full of a whole lot of nothing! It was wonderful!

This week the kids have been home. And a bit bored! I’ve been trying to get the house cleaned up (little by little). Next week we have Cub Scout Day Camp, then the week after that we go to visit my parents. The house has to be cleaned before we leave, and this week is the best time to do it. Poor kids have had to entertain themselves without making a mess!

Josh has decided he wants some money to buy things I won’t buy for him, so he put up a chore list the other day.

You will notice right under “make bed” is “Be nice 2 bro.”  Which technically, doesn’t qualify as a chore, but apparently Josh thinks of it as one.

Rockfest

This weekend I took the boys up to the Tellus Museum. They were having their annual “Rockfest.”

Rich had to work so the boys and I decided to go up and have fun!

There were all sorts of fun things for the kids to do.

They got a free crystal from one of the vendors.

Sam’s New Glasses

The boys have been at Vacation Bible School all week. I’ve had my mornings to myself (and it’s been wonderful)!

And, I’ve been taking turns with a friend looking after the kids afterward. Some days they come here, some days they go there – either way – they leave me alone!

You’d think I’d have had time to update the blog. And I have “had the time” I’ve just not done it!

Sam had an ophthalmologist appointment the day school got out. Everything is fine and he’s doing great. However, he did get a new prescription for his glasses. We got the new ones the other day.

I think he looks super grown up in these!

(He wouldn’t smile. I think he was in a “shy” mood).

What do you think?

Pure Fun!

When we first moved to Georgia it took us quite a while to find friends.

Rich wasn’t working – he didn’t get a job until we’d been here about 7 months. Then, when he did find a job he was traveling to Nashville every week.

We live in a town northwest of Atlanta and I had a job southeast of Atlanta. If you’ve ever experienced Atlanta traffic you know what a hellacious journey it could be! Sometimes 2 hours or more to get to and from work.

When I finally stopped working I set out to find friends. Josh and I would attend story time at the local Borders. Mary, the story teller and I soon discovered we had a lot in common and became friends.

Is It a Basket?

After my last post, I went to check on Sam. He’s playing outside with his water gun.

I filled up the basket I use for the Farmer’s Market Baskets with water so I don’t have to keep filling up his water gun.

When I checked on him, this is what he was doing.

Fully clothed, in the basket full of water, squirting his squirt gun.

Last Week’s Basket

One of the things I’m thinking of doing with this blog is keeping track of what we get in our Farmer’s Market Basket each week and what I make.

I’ve had a few posts already that I put what we got – but I think I’m going to start not only putting what we got that week, but also what I made from the basket. It seems  to be a good place for me to keep track of what I’ve made with some of the ingredients and also helps share some yummy, healthy recipes!

So, last weeks basket. I got the “Veggie only” basket since we still had lots of fruit from the last two weeks. We seem to eat a lot more vegetables than we do fruit in our house.

Potatoes (I bought several extra), broccoli, spinach (I bought an extra bunch of organic spinach), Lettuce (I bought an extra head), tomatoes, spring onions, tomatoes and cabbage (we don’t eat cabbage so I “swapped” my cabbage for an extra bunch of spring onions). I also bought some garlic and organic raspberries.

I can’t believe the school year is over already and I can’t believe the boys have been out of school for a week!
