Asheville, Day 2

The weather here hasn't been the best. Yesterday was a bit drizzly and rainy most of the day. But that's okay, we've been making the most of our time here anyway.

We walked into town yesterday -- we are determined not to drive while here -- and visited the most amazing book store. It's called Malaprops. I love that name. It sounds like a store you'd find on Diagon Alley. It was a great book store. We must have spent 2 hours in there just lingering, reading about books, browsing...

I love book stores. It's so much fun to discover new books and authors, or rediscover books that were on "your list" and never got around to reading. It's so hard to just browse a book store when you have a seven and three year old running amok among the books and asking to go home. Or if they can buy every book they see.

So we spent a fair amount of time there yesterday. Then we had a lite lunch at a really nice little cafe. I popped next door to the smallest yarn store in the world (I found out there is another one here and we're going there today) and then went to a cute little chocolate shop while Rich went back to the bookstore and sat in the cafe reading.

We came back to the B&B in the afternoon. Rich did some reading and I had a nap then a bubble bath before dinner. We went out to dinner to a cute little place with a big outdoor, covered balcony. The staff was very nice and the location was wonderful. The food wasn't as good as we'd hoped, but not bad either.

Today we're heading down to a mall/galleria to look around. I'll let you know how we go.

We're off to breakfast now....

  1. Sounds wonderful! Leisurely doing whatever you want, whenever you want! I'm so envious. We (Robert and I) really need to go on our belated honeymoon soon! Ya think after 23 years it's time?

I've been married 18 years and we have never had a honeymoon or been away from the kids for more than 2 nights.

  7. I was going to tell you to visit the Chocolate Fetish on Hagwood Street, but it looks like you may have found it. When we go to Asheville I always go. It's my favorite chocolate shop ever.

We also love Jack of the Wood on Patton Ave.
