This week has been so super busy – I’m going to try and catch you up over the next few days. I may have more than one post per day or just some really long, photo heavy posts!
Last weekend we went camping with the Cub Scouts. It was lots of fun! We camped locally – just in one of the open spaces in our neighborhood so it was close but we had a great time.
The camp out was the Spring Family Camp Out and the Rank Advancement Ceremony. That’s when the boys actually get the ranks they earned over the year and they all move on to the next level.
Before the festivities, we had fun goofing off. Some of the dad’s cooked hot dogs for everyone so we had that for dinner. But there was plenty of play time!
One of the boys (Josh’s friend Chance making the goofy faces with him in the above picture) found a Luna Moth that had just emerged from it’s cocoon.
After dinner and play the ceremony began. Josh got to carry the American Flag. The ceremony was very cool. Each “rank” had their face painted with different markings. Once each boy had their face painted the Cub Master read out what each color stood for and told each boy to have courage to move forward to the next level.
Then they got their badges. It was very cool! Josh earned his Weblos Rank and will continue to be a Weblos Scout until next March when he crosses over to Boy Scouts! Sam is going to join this year and be a Tiger!
After the ceremony we made s’mores – of course! And the kids played, the adults talked and sat around the campfire!
Congrats on your little cub scout!
